State Finals is the ultimate step in the UCLA Alumni Scholarship. High school seniors who exhibit the best performances in their early round interviews are invited to compete for a larger scholarship over a two day event.
The event itself is split into two parts. Welcome Day is full of activities aimed at helping the students get to know UCLA, current Alumni Scholars, and, most importantly, each other. Current Alumni Scholars act as overnight hosts for the State Finalists. The following day, students participate in three rotations of competition. The rotations include an essay writing exercise, interviews and a group problem-solving exercise. The day culminates with an awards ceremony, at which State Finalists receive their scholarships. This past year the top awards were $17,500 paid over four years.
