Bunche Scholars 2007-2008
Bunche Scholars are a unique part of the ASC community not because they are underrepresented students, but rather because they continue the legacy of success of Dr. Ralph J. Bunche. The Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Programs Board facilitates the continuing success of its scholars and encourage their involvement in ASC and the greater UCLA community. The vision of this year can best be grasped with the acronym L.E.G.A.C.Y.
| Leadership | Give scholars the tools needed in their continuing development as leaders. |
| Encourage | Encourage scholars’ involvement in ASC and the UCLA community. |
| Galvanize | Stimulate scholars intellectual and community interests. |
| Alumni | Facilitate scholars’ access to alumni and address specific issues regarding the experience of minorities in the business and professional world. |
| Camaraderie | Cultivate and facilitate strong bonds among Bunche Scholar recipients as well as other scholarship recipients who form the ASC community. |
| Yield | Increase the amount of scholars yielded in all of the events created by the Bunche Programs Board. |
Dr. Ralph J. Bunche ’27, a notable UCLA alumnus and Nobel Prize winner, was a pioneer in the areas of race relations, human rights, decolonization, international mediation and peacekeeping. Today, his legacy lives on at UCLA through the Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Scholarships, which are awarded annually to scholars from traditionally underrepresented communities.
