Bunche Scholars Program
Bunche Scholars are a very special part of the ASC community, having the passion to continue the incredible legacy of success that Dr. Ralph J. Bunche laid before them. In concurrence with that continuing legacy, the Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Programs Board supports, acknowledges and fosters the success of its scholars and encourages their involvement in ASC and the greater UCLA community. The vision of this year can best be grasped with the acronym L.E.G.A.C.Y.
| Leadership | Give scholars the tools needed in their continuing development as leaders. |
| Encourage | Encourage scholars' involvement in ASC and the UCLA community. |
| Galvanize | Stimulate scholars intellectual and community interests. |
| Alumni | Facilitate scholars' access to alumni and address specific issues regarding the experience of minorities in the business and professional world. |
| Camaraderie | Cultivate and facilitate strong bonds among Bunche Scholar recipients as well as other scholarship recipients who form the ASC community. |
| Yield | Increase the amount of scholars yielded in all of the events created by the Bunche Programs Board. |
Who Was Dr. Ralph J. Bunche?
Dr. Ralph J. Bunche, a notable UCLA alumnus and Nobel Prize winner, was a pioneer in the areas of race relations, human rights, decolonization, international mediation and peacekeeping. Today, his legacy lives on at UCLA through the Dr. Ralph J. Bunche Scholarships, which are awarded annually to scholars from traditionally underrepresented communities.
