Max Belasco
President
4th Year
Major(s): Microbiology, Immunology, and Molecular Genetics
Fascinated with both the biology and social implications of disease, Max is hoping to pursue a career either in public health or bioethics. This means he will most likely work in academia, which is rather fitting for a student who gets mistaken for a TA on a near daily basis (why this happens Max does not really know, but he suspects it might be his messenger bag). Outside of classwork Max researches cancer metabolism at the UCLA Institute of Molecular Medicine and genetic sociology at Center for Society and Genetics. This year, he will be pursuing his own work as an undergraduate researcher.
There are few things in life that Max enjoys more than coffee, puns, secondhand bookstores and most importantly hanging out with ASC. He is extremely excited for the awesome events, programs and shenanigans that will inevitably ensue when Alumni Scholars are around. When he is not working in the lab or hanging around the James West Alumni Center, Max enjoys concerts, catching up on the New Yorker and cooking. Rumor has it that he can make a mean baklava.
The President chairs the executive board, plans agendas and delegates responsibilities to the executive board members. He or she is responsible for internal planning of the executive board and supporting the strength and imagination that is the other directors. During his or her term, the president oversees long-term planning efforts while communicating regularly with Alumni Association staff members and representing ASC at various Alumni Association meetings and events.
