Come learn how to improvise and deal with the issues and slip-ups that are sure to come in future programming. Join the Leadership Development Committee and your fellow coordinators in an interactive workshop led by the Bruin behind UCLA Volunteer Day.

UCLA IM Field

UCLA's I'm Going to College (IGTC) program, the nation's largest collegiate community outreach effort, has touched the lives of thousands of elementary, middle and high school students across Southern California. Offered through Southern California school systems, this unique program couples the excitement and tradition of UCLA Athletic events with a message about the importance of higher education. UCLA Faculty & Staff, alumni, current students and student-athletes are instrumental in facilitating the success of this game day program as they guide thousands of children through educational fairs, campus tours and special attractions. Children delight in the success of Bruin teams, however, they leave I'm Going to College events with a greater understanding of the college environment and a feeling that it is an attainable goal for their own futures.

Winter Quarterly

Watch an exciting presentation, hear about upcoming events and have dinner with your friends during this star-studded night. Come, enjoy good company and remember to bring your wallets so you can bid on some great prizes to help future Alumni Scholars Club members during the Dollars for Scholars live auction!

The Great City of Angels

Don't have a car? Want to explore beyond Westwood? Don't despair - come explore Los Angeles with your fellow scholars! We'll show you how to use public transportation to get to some of LA's coolest sites! Hang out with awesome people, learn how to get around, and See the City! Possible locations include: the Getty Museum, 3rd Street Promenade, Marina Del Rey Aquatics Center, Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Melrose, and Venice Beach. Email your top 2 choices of destination to outreach@alumnischolarsclub.org by January 18th!

Alumni Career Panel: Green Jobs

Featuring professionals, academics, and graduate students all dedicated to pursuing careers focused on the environment, from public health to energy conservation to urban planning, this panel is designed to give you a comprehensive view of what it means to pursue an eco-friendly career, and the exciting new opportunities behind green jobs.

Locks of Love

Feb. 3, 10 a.m. - 7 p.m.

The Alumni Scholars Club is hosting an event where you can donate part of your hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit organization who make wigs for children who have lost hair due to illness. If you'd like to donate, please contact campusvolunteers@alumnischolarsclub.org. There will be music, fun, and BJs food for donors, so be sure to join us! For more information please click here.

ASC Public Speaking Workshop

Feb. 9, 6-7:30 p.m.

James West Alumni Center

Problems speaking in public? Do you get nervous, antsy, and say “um” or “like” a lot. No problem! ASC is putting on a public speaking workshop. There will be a focus on mechanics and structure of effective public speaking strategies and abilities. Various concepts will be directed by Powerpoint presentation from one of our own coordinators followed by periodic small group activities involving the specific concepts just discussed. This is a great opportunity to focus on common public speaking issues that everyone has as well as get some valuable practice in speaking in public while in a comfortable, supportive setting. Public speaking can be a problem for all of us and as leaders on this campus, it is something that we all can constantly improve on. We hope to see you there!

ASC Prom

We know a place where the candy's always sweeter. Past the Candy Cane Forest and the Gumdrop Mountains lies ASC's Candyland Prom! Come for a night on the town complete with cocktails, dancing, live DJ, a photo booth, and Valentine design corner. Make your sweetest fantasies come alive in JWAC. Bring your date, roommate, sweet-tart, imaginary friend, or even find somebody new. Each ASC guest may bring ONE friend who is not a member of ASC. Please RSVP to scholarrelations@alumnischolarsclub.org by February 7th with your own and your guests name (if applicable) in the email.

ASC Goes to the Grammy Museum

Feb. 13, 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.

Ackerman Turn-around

The Alumni Scholars Club along with the San Fernando Valley Bruins are teaming up to go in a carpool to visit the Grammy Museum on the LA Live campus! Mix and mingle with alumni from diverse fields while you learn about the history behind the Grammy awards, and hear some sweet music as well! After the tour, the whole group of us will hit up the nearby restaurants and get some lunch before heading back to UCLA.
The price for admission is $12.50, and be sure to bring some extra cash for lunch afterwards. If you need to get back to campus some rides from San Fernando will be leaving after the tour to head back, and you can catch a ride with them.
To ensure there are enough seats for everybody, be sure to RSVP no later than February 10th at alumnirelations@alumnischolarsclub.org

Come to the Week 7 All-ASC Meeting that is focused on a valuable Leadership Development Workshop. This quarter’s theme is resume building! Yes, resumes, one of the most important documents we will ever have in our lives. Learn how to present yourself in a positive light from a successful UCLA alumnus, Nelson Wang. Hear tips and tricks to help you build a better resume and land that dream job that you have always wanted. Also, you will get a chance to have your resume reviewed by your fellow peers and the opportunity to ask our speaker specific questions, so bring your resumes! Not only that, but you will get one service hour for attending. Hope to see you all there!

Bunche Committee presents Careers and Classy Talktails

This event is designed to inform ASC students about potential careers and endeavors that they are pursuing. At the Bunche Alumni Mixer students will have the chance to interact with prominent and well-established alumni that could be instrumental in achieving internships and much more. Enjoy catered appetizers with friends and alumni. Not only will you gain plenty of insight and network with friends and alumni, but you will also receive one service hour for attending. Please dress business-casual to this event, as it is a cocktail-themed mixer. Hope to see you there!

The ASC Picture Frame Olympic Games

March 3, 5-7 p.m.

Please join Outreach and the P2P program as they host The Picture Frame Olympic Games on Thursday, March 3 from 5-7 PM. Get ready for an evening of crafty competition and Greek-themed fun. Come compete with your ASC friends and help us paint picture frames for state finals! This is a great opportunity to get service hours!

Reconnect with Alumni Scholarship Volunteers

Reconnect with the Alumni Scholarship volunteers that helped select you for our program. This renewal event will allow you to mingle with scholarship volunteers and fill them in on how your UCLA experience has been going so far.
